hi nick,

thanks... that fixed the serial number issue!

i have another question. when i ran it this time, it showed an error for one of the tables (invoices). it appears to have imported all 112 records, but in the column new/import it showed a red "729" (i have attached a screenshot below). is that anything i need to worry about? the green checkmark is also missing from the far right side of the portal row.

thanks for all your help so far! this is going to make my life much easier!!!

    John,

I split this into a new conversation, as it's come up before and is worth clarifying all on it's own.

A 729 error is a generic FileMaker import error. The error codes are just what FileMaker returns for errors. 729 is specifically "Errors occurred during import; records could not be imported", which is odd in that in all the cases I've seen, the record counts match.

The most likely answer is that it's a validation issue. Are there any field level validations in this Table? What are they and would they prevent imports?

One thing other users have found that worked is to move that Table to the end of the list, so that it imports last. Go to the Review layout and to the Table list, and change the "Sort" number for that to something higher than the last item. This would work if the validation was checking for a related record, that previously didn't exist because that Table hadn't imported yet.

Let me know what else you find.

    Cheers,
    Nick

    hey nick,

i tried moving it to the end of the import order but the result was the same. there are several field level validations in this table but i don't know if they would prevent imports? a couple of them require fields to be not empty, another requires numerical value, and a couple others i noticed required a value from a value list. however, these last 2 are global fields and should be empty... i'll have to look into that? there is one more that requires a unique value and i think that is it.... hmmm? as far as i can tell on quick inspection, the imported file seems to be ok though... for now i guess it is a bit of a mystery... i'll let you know if i discover anything...

    thanks again!
